Greetings, fellow blamers. As you have cleverly surmised, I Blame The Patriarchy has a new URL and is now a function of WordPress. I moved the blog because TypePad, though it appears to mean well, sucks. And I don’t care who hears it, dammit!
The diaspora has been incredibly stressful, but finally the whole blog is here, your sterling comments complete, with posts dating all the way back to last February. For the sake of posterity, and to ease the research burden for my future biographers, I am working on collecting posts from my ancient pre-TypePad Blogger account. These comprise a glistening world of largely unread Twistical blogular hilarity and will perhaps be of interest to the odd aficionado or mental patient.
It is only fair to warn you that I am not handy with code of any sort, and that includes dress code, the code blue, and HTML code. I am aware that this makes me, as my sister says, pitiful. However, I am satisfied that the quality of I Blame The Patriarchy’s readership is such that you will all nobly bear with me while I make my little experiments (which experiments, I trust, will not cause the internet to explode); soon a new day will dawn upon all sorts of astonishing improvements! Should there arise irregularities with the comments, which I fully anticipate, or if you detect, as have a few readers already, any other screwed up shit, kindly email me directly at taco at twistyfaster dot com.
P.S. The sidebar is still there, just way down at the bottom. WTF?

Twisty! Am I the first to comment here at your new digs? And may I say, the site looks so much better already!
How DO you do it, young lady? Moving during the holidays, especially with your current unpleasantness going on and all? As always, I am in awe of your superhuman powers.
Blame on, blame on!

How fortunate that we in your readership exhibit a significant overlap beween those two sets!

Nice place.
Shall there be an RSS feed in the future?
I realize that these words may be unwelcome, involving as they do the specter of more HTML, etc, but the linky thing at the bottom of the page, he does not work, and the feed aggregator does not recognize the new site.
I like my Patriarchy Blaming delivered piping hot to my doorstep. But will of course go out to seek it if necessary.

The RSS feed is working from my browser. Whatever can it mean?

Nice digs. I’m also basically an html moron, but sometimes the sidebar thingy can mean that you’re missing a tag to tell the template that the sidebar goes on the side dammit! Could be worth checking, anyhoo. Congrats on the migration!

I’m using Windows XP & Firefox & having no trouble w/ the RSS. Firefox is worth the hype.

To fix it you either have to change the style sheet to make that section aligned top… or the layout is created using a table, you have to set the TD tag to read “valign=top”
Unless WordPress uses a completely other method of page layout, but it’s probably style or table.

Congrats on your new place!
I think you’re having a problem with your sidebar width. In your stylesheet, there is a section way down at the bottom that has this text:
/* Begin Sidebar */
#sidebar
{
padding: 20px 0 10px 0;
margin-left: 545px;
width: 190px;
}
#sidebar form {
margin: 0;
}
/* End Sidebar */
I’d start reducing the width and seeing if that helps.
Of course back everything up before you play. At least I have to, I tend to break more things in the beginning than actual fixing.

WTF – it looks great wherever the damned sidebar is – fortunately I can make the effort to slide the slider down the page! Words – not code- matters to me and my goodness, thank the good earth that you are an expert in that direction. Hope the puke has abated a little. XX

Firefox is worth the hype.
Oh yes. The adblock function is a radical feminist’s best friend.

It’s kind of nice to walk around the place while you’re still decorating.
I must admit, the first thing I did upon visiting yesterday was to look at all of the extra material, like your bio and critter pix. I did not realize that you were a foodie in the published-critic sense of the word. If you ever have the chance to come to Toronto, allow me to recommend a couple of restaurants for you.
I must apologize publicly for failing to procure chocolate last week at the chocolate tasting I went to–they were very stingy with the samples. It was definitely geared toward the chocolate purist and not someone who might enjoy a praline with cardamom, or creme fraiche as the case might be.

RSS – Works fine with Firefox at home, not fine with IE at work. Huh.
Typical IE….ridiculous program.
Thanks for the hint.

Dammit, Chris beat me to the joke I was going to make. Welcome to the new digs.

Thanks for the sidebar advice. As you can see, I have junked the whole thing and started over. I predict it will get worse before it gets better.
Also, oui oui to Firefox. I’m pretty sure this blog isn’t remotely legible in IE.

Blogs have their shortcomings. That’s why I have a web site too. I can put any amount of stuff on it & format it the way I want.

Man – do I agree about Typepad! It’s been one problem after the other – including tonight. I was right in the middle of a post when it went all wonky. Now it says I can’t get back in until some kind of maintenance is complete. (Sound of fuming in the background).
Anyway – great new digs – and I hope you are feeling much better.

Hey Hattie. This is a test of the new nested comments feature. This is only a test.

Pinch, punch for the new premises.
One trusts that the new headline head will be as gorgeous as the Shelley Duvall-ish goddess on the typepad pages.
Any chance of getting the pizzicato intermezzo from the “what is this very special message” to greet one when one pops into the foyer?
Cin cin, lass.

Firefox is great except for when the friggin thing won’t let the user fill in some web page forms.
It’s been a long dragging bug with Firefox in OS X Panther and Twisty’s forms are unfortunately one of the affected lot.
However, no problems for this welded on Camino (Firefox done with OS X developers stuff) user.
Camino is also a smidge more snappy than Firefox, in 10.3.9 at least.
And the name is muy nicer too.
I look forward to popping in sometime in the new year to see the full catastrophe. Which it is shaping up to be; persistent commenter details and ignore buttons no less!

So far so good.
TypePad, though it appears to mean well, sucks.
Is it just me, or is there a lot of that going around?

The comments section now looks a lot better than it did this morning. I like the new look here.

Geez, you go away for a couple of days and somebody not only remodels the damn place, they move it. Is there nothing reliable in life? I blame the patriarchy.

What darkymac said. I love the photo on the old blog. LOVE it. If you don’t move it over, could you leave the old blog up so I can go over and look at it sometimes? It’s positively hypnotic.
I hope I don’t sound weird.

The old blog is still there, but I promise I’ll be bringing the Twisty Girl home sooner or later. It’s just a matter of my bothering to figure out how to change the banner.

A testing joke:
A man walks into a bar and asks for a double entendre.
So the barman gives him one.
Then a roadie walks in and asks for one and the barman gives him one too.
