Hey Norbizness

What happened to your blog? Hacked by a disgruntled Furry Puppyist who didn’t think your storytime was happy enough?

    Who is Norbizness?

  2. givesgoodemail

    It would appear that either:

    1) her domain registration was allowed to lapse and then snapped up by a cybersquatter, or
    2) she let her registration lapse purposely in an act of mercy, or
    3) Furry Puppyists kidnapped her and changed the laws of time to accelerate her domain registration’s lapse.

Norbizness is a blogger guy. He has — or had — an extremely esoteric blog written in the incomprehensible patois of the Austin liberal humor-dude, and a national following of same. We once held a puppy photo cute-off, which I won hands down. Also, he appears to be a fan of Major Lance.

  4. birkwearingblamer

He’s posted a couple of comments lately. Amusing comments, as usual. Love those.

Is this like Where’s Waldo, only it’s norbizness in a stripped shirt and hat?

Sorry, Jill, canceled that account about a year ago voluntarily; no cyber-squatting or anything involved. The domain-master did wipe the archives a whole lot than I thought they would (i.e. instantaneously), but I had at least saved a hard copy so that I periodically engage in the primary activity of the Austin liberal dude-writer: telling myself how super-funny I was/am.

For the newer blamers who will hereafter question your taste in reading, there’s the never-forgetting Internet Archive Wayback Machine.

Thanks, I feel rather enlightened now!

And I clicked on a random post in the Wayback Machine just to discover that Norbizness likes “Gospel Zone” by The Shadows of Knight, which happens to be one of my favourite songs. Heh!

Good ol’ Norbiz. I miss Sunday Coupons. Of course Happy Furry Puppy time was one of those where Norbiz would put a massive amount of effort and get a couple “hehs” in comments in return. Demoralizing, no?

I do have a Moog record I got in his honor. If Norbiz wants it, I can deliver when I get to Austin.

Sorry, Jill, canceled that account about a year ago

Typical me, always with my finger on the pulse of Today. Once when I was 6 I busted out crying in deep emotional pain because I couldn’t find the family cat. My mom was all, “Earth to Jill, that cat ran away 3 months ago! You just now noticed?”

  9. Unree

I think the site’s actually been down for more than a year. Color me among the disappointed–I love N’s blog comments.

  10. Larkspur

Well, N-Biz, I’m certainly glad you to continue to stop by here. Also, who can possibly hate Texas when there’s an Austin in it, and people like Jill and Norby in Austin’s environs?

    Also, there are the bats.

  11. Jill

I begin to grasp the devilish cunning in Norbizness’s voluntary deblogulation. Thusly disencumbered, he gets to flit about the World Wide Web with no obligations or responsibilities beyond enjoying other people’s meticulous blog-labors and making with the occasional hilarious rejoinder. It is a gambit not without its attractions.

  12. Squiggy

Don’t even think about it Jill. Please?

Yah, we lost a coupla good feminist blogs recently, or they went privado. Apostate & FemmEssay, if you’re out there, thanks for your words, and if you are blogging elsewhere / see fit to send an invite find me at: Auntidisestablishmentarian at gmail.

It always bums me out when blogs evaporate, even if they are defunct. Guess you gotta do what you gotta do.

  14. K.A.

I’m with you, AuntiDis. I returned to the web to play catch up and some of my faves are gone! What gives?! Feminist Reprise (Amy’s Brain) is gone, too.

Off-topic, but I went through the archives here and am fully caught up now. So glad I missed Cuntalinagate, though….

  15. Ayla

Any fellow blamer out there who can point me in the right direction to request access to Apostate’s blog? Or is she even allowing that?

  16. nails

I am interested in what these other good blogs are. Links?

  17. Montana

    @Ayla,

Maybe Apostate’s blog is by invitation only. I’ve tried all the WordPress stuff, and still no luck. She is an incredibly articulate woman with lots of moxie. I hated to see it go.

  18. Formerly Apostate

Hey, you guys! The blog is effectively closed. My name for this comment is linking to the blog I created just to leave a note for folks who might have been left wondering what happened when I suddenly disappeared – I then linked to it on Twitter, but not all my readers followed me on Twitter. I didn’t feel comfortable making a declaration of departure or leaving the blog up because of some horrid online stalkers so I took the whole thing down.

For those who don’t want to read the long goodbye essay, law school was the main reason I stopped (besides the aggravation caused by Professional Anti-Feminist Right-Wing Internet Assholes). I miss blogging and my good readers terribly. But terribly.

  19. Hedgepig

Apostate! You shall blog again someday! I feel it in my waters.

  20. Susan

Count me among those who miss you, Apostate. Best of luck with law school!

  21. jael

Apostate- ditto other people who miss you!

  22. Agasaya

Apostate: WE NEED decent women lawyers desperately. Thank you for putting yourself through that particular form of hell.

  23. HistoricUpstart

Apostate! I am sooo glad you left that link. Now I am not so worried about you! I’m truly saddened that you’re taking a break, but I totally understand your reasons why. I will miss reading you terribly, though. Your thoughts are unlike anyone else’s. I wish you the best of luck, and hope to read you again someday.

  24. Formerly Apostate

Thanks so much, all. I was really depressed about it at first because I missed my little community of wonderful readers, but since law school started, I haven’t had time to think about it. Nice to catch up here (thanks, Jill).

“yah, we lost a coupla good feminist blogs recently, or they went privado.”

I noticed. It looks like Women’s Space: The Margins went private over the weekend. Or is there a glitch? Heart, are you around?

Apostate, I already miss your voice on the intertubes. I hope you’ll check in every now and again!

  26. ChrisV82

Apostate: WE NEED decent women lawyers desperately. Thank you for putting yourself through that particular form of hell.

I was going to say there are plenty of female attorneys (pretty sure it’s solidly above 50%), but then I saw you said decent. The female lawyers I come across are of quality, but the women in law school are atrocious. It’s like they gave everyone in the sorority a passing LSAT.

  27. Jill

The women in law school are “atrocious”? Really? I mean, compared to what? The men?

  28. Felicity

He’s just angry at the prospect of us womenz catching up, Jill. Anyway I’m so sick of hearing the ratio is 50/50 male: female in law when it’s clearly not. And hearing whichever male says it sound like it’s the end of the world.

  29. agasaya

The fraternity of law has declared justice to be equivalent to corporate law, with many willing female conscripts practicing today.
Complete with high IQs and LSAT scores.

Hopefully, the law schools are admitting a few women who know what the word ‘justice’ means and so might avoid the draft. Perhaps such a direction requires that they be considered too ‘dumb’ to draft into the traditional forms of legal practice.
