You’d be interested in Shulamith Har-Even’s _Thirst: The Desert Trilogy_, a subversive take on the Exodus period. It is true that two of the stories in the trilogy center on men, but one of them is a dissident Hebrew, one a mainstream Canaanite, and the main character of the third is a Hebrew woman. Hebrew, again, the wanderers from abroad, yet to become Israelites, Judeans, or Jews. The 2nd story is in fact an interesting case study for the reader in how to learn to regard oneself as an invader. You may, of course, wish to argue that there is no Exodus without the conquest of Canaan, as Edward Said did, but when he did so he argued that the meaning of “the Lord brought ME out of Egypt” and “in every generation” is that there is no Hebrew, no Israelite, no Judean and no Jew, no Yid, even, without imperialism.
